Let's get you feeling and looking your best on camera!

One of the biggest questions I get before a shoot is: “What should I wear?” While I’ve put together some outfit ideas and suggestions to help you plan, please remember that this guide is here to inspire, not to restrict. The most important thing is that you feel like you. If your favorite shirt breaks a “rule,” wear it anyway. If you love a bold color, bring it to life! Your photos should reflect your unique personality and style—and I’m here to capture that in the most authentic way!

Let's Talk!

No matter what kind of shoot you’ve booked—senior, couples, family, maternity, branding... color makes a huge difference in how your photos feel, and the appearance of your skin. Here are some of my go-to tips when it comes to choosing tones that photograph beautifully:

Stick to Timeless Neutrals

Think creamy whites, soft browns, taupes, dusty rose, sage, muted greens, denim blues, or warm rusts. These tones look timeless, keep the focus on you, and work well in both natural and urban settings.

Avoid Harsh Darks & Brights

Colors like jet black or bright neons can create harsh shadows or pull focus. Black in particular can look flat in photos and hide beautiful details in your expression or outfit. If you love dark tones, consider charcoal gray, deep forest green, or warm chocolate brown as softer alternatives. But a touch of black never hurt anybody! If it is a must have- bring it!

Creamy and Neutral Tones for the Win!

Light, creamy colors reflect light gently onto your face, giving your skin a warm, glowy feel. They also mix well with almost any backdrop and coordinate easily with others in group photos.

Want to Add a Pop?

You absolutely can! Just keep bold colors as accents—like a statement scarf, hat, or layered piece—so they don’t overpower the image.

Dress for the Location!

Your outfit should feel at home in the space we’re shooting. Matching your vibe to the scenery helps your photos feel more natural, cohesive, and storytelling.

For Seniors

This is your time to shine! Choose outfits that show off your personality—

If your shoot package has multiple outfits, think something timeless, something fun, and maybe even a favorite hobby-related piece (like a letterman jacket, instrument, or hat). Bring a few different options—one casual, one dressy, and maybe something fun or bold!

For Couples

Your love is one-of-a-kind, and your outfits can show that. Stick to complementary colors and textures, and aim for pieces that feel like who you are. Think cozy sweaters, flowy dresses, denim, boots—whatever makes you feel close and comfortable with each other during your shoot.

For Families

Most times, coordinating can look even better than matching! Choose a color palette (like soft neutrals or fall tones), and each person wear their own version of it. Aim for a mix of textures and layers, and keep things comfortable so your kids (and you!) can move and play freely during the session!

Maternity

Celebrate this season with something soft, comfortable, and beautiful that accentuates your beautiful bump—flowy dresses, knits, duster layers, or even jeans with a cozy cardigan. Earthy tones, creamy whites, or warm pastels look gorgeous. If your partner is joining, aim for coordinated but simple pieces to keep the focus on you.
